XEV 9e Waiting Period: The 4-Month Obsession

The Mahindra XEV 9e launch was less of a car release and more of a controlled stampede. 30,000 bookings on day one, ₹21,000 on the table, and then… the wait.

The Reality of the Wait

The waiting period for the XEV 9e stretched to 4-6 months across India. While Pack Three owners (79 kWh) saw deliveries starting in mid-March, those who opted for the entry-level Pack One had to wait until August.

Key Stats

  • Day One Bookings: 30,000+ (Feb 14, 2025)
  • Model Split: 59% chose the XEV 9e over the BE 6
  • Delivery Order: Pack 3 (March) → Pack 3 Select/Pack 2 (June-July) → Pack 1 (August)
  • Performance: 228 bhp, 380 Nm, 656 km range (Pack 3)

The Obsession

WhatsApp groups became the new home for thousands of owners, tracking allocation patterns and VIN numbers with the intensity of day traders. No two waiting stories are the same, but the payoff—driving home in the rain with 656 km glowing on the dash—was the common thread.

Are you still waiting for your XEV 9e allocation? Which Pack did you book, and what has your dealer experience been like so far?

I’m part of the Pack 2 group. Still waiting for my June slot. The dealer in Whitefield mentioned they’re seeing more Pack 3 allocations than expected, so maybe we’ll get it a bit sooner? The wait is exhausting.

Got my Pack 3 last week! Can confirm the 656 km range is a bit optimistic in real traffic, but the power delivery is just effortless. Worth the 4-month wait? Absolutely. My dealer kept me updated on WhatsApp throughout, which helped.
