Karnataka’s EV tax change is a real on-road price story, not just a policy headline.
The new slabs are simple:
up to Rs 10 lakh: 5%
Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh: 8%
above Rs 25 lakh: 10%
That means a Rs 30 lakh EV now picks up about Rs 3 lakh of tax in Karnataka before insurance and fees. Delhi and Maharashtra still look very different on the same comparison.
Would you still buy a premium EV in Bengaluru if the state changed the bill by lakhs?
Delhi and Maharashtra are still the cleaner comparison if you are shopping a premium EV this month. Karnataka is the one that now needs the extra math.
