EV Road Trip: Chennai to Bangalore

EV Road Trip: Chennai to Bangalore (The Return Ascent)

Done with your Chennai trip and heading back to Bangalore? Don’t let the elevation catch you off guard. This is a 345 km journey, but the final leg is much tougher on your battery than the way down.

The “Bangalore Ascent”

  • Elevation Gain: ~900 meters.
  • The Critical Stretch: The 90km climb from Krishnagiri to Bangalore (400m vertical gain).
  • Consumption Tip: Expect your Wh/km to spike by 20-25% during the final climb.

Recommended Charging Strategy

  1. Vellore / Pallikonda (140km from Chennai): This is your primary stop. Use the Relux 360kW or Charge Zone 240kW hubs. Aim for 80% SoC here to be safe.
  2. Krishnagiri (255km from Chennai): This is your mandatory SoC check. If you have less than 35% battery, top up at Zeon or Relux before starting the steep climb to Bangalore.

Pro-Tips

  • Avoid Range Anxiety: The “Distance to Empty” (DTE) on your dashboard will drop faster than actual kilometers during the climb. Always maintain a 15% buffer.
  • Charger Reliability: Stick to the high-power hubs at Vellore and Krishnagiri for the fastest turnaround.

Have you noticed the range drop during the Bangalore climb? What’s your typical SoC when reaching Electronic City?

The elevation climb is no joke. I once arrived at Krishnagiri with 25% and thought I’d make it, but the climb to Hosur really pushed it. Better to top up if you’re in doubt!

Relux at Vellore is a solid recommendation. Really high uptime and usually multiple guns available. Made my last trip zero-stress.
