EV Road Trip: Bangalore to Isha Yoga Center (Sankari Stop, Backup Chargers & Isha AC)

Planning an EV road trip from Bangalore to Isha Yoga Center? This run looks simple on paper, but it gets messy fast if you stop too early or treat destination charging like a rescue plan.

The cleaner way to read this route is one deliberate NH 544 stop, one backup in the same corridor, then parked AC charging at Isha if you actually need it.

Route snapshot

  • Distance: about 376 km
  • Drive time: about 7h 32m
  • Destination: Isha Yoga Center, west of Coimbatore in the Velliangiri foothills

The main stop

  • Sankari | Sree Saravana Bhavan (Zeon) is the anchor.
  • It sits in the right part of the Salem belt, not too early and not too late.
  • The live ElectricPe listing also shows a successful check-in mentioning enough parking and a nearby rest area.

Backup logic

  • Omalur | Aasai Aasai Anandha Bhavan is the earlier insurance stop if departure SoC or traffic already weakened your buffer.
  • Avinashi | Sree Annapoorna is the later backup if the drive is going better than expected and you want the top-up closer to Coimbatore.

Destination charging

  • Isha destination charger is Type 2 AC at 22 kW.
  • Useful while parked.
  • Not the charger you want to depend on after a badly planned highway run.

Planning rule

  • Leave Bengaluru full.
  • Anchor on Sankari.
  • Keep one backup in mind.
  • Let Isha be the destination, not the rescue.

If you have done this route recently, where did you actually stop, and would you still use Sankari as the main anchor over Omalur or Avinashi?

Sankari as the anchor makes sense. Omalur always feels a bit too early if you leave Bangalore properly charged, and Avinashi is better kept as the later confidence stop.

The important nuance here is destination charging. Isha AC is helpful once you are parked, but I would not want to arrive counting on it after misjudging the highway leg.
