CarPlay / Android Auto Troubleshooting Matrix (Symptom -> Fix)

Let us centralize phone-projection issues into one practical thread.

Common symptoms

  • CarPlay/Android Auto keeps loading and never connects
  • Connects but no audio output
  • Frequent disconnects while driving
  • Works after restart, then fails again later

Quick checks (in order)

  1. Toggle Bluetooth + Wi-Fi OFF/ON on phone.
  2. Forget car connection on phone and pair again.
  3. Test with cable (if supported) to isolate wireless issues.
  4. Reboot phone once, then retest.
  5. Reboot vehicle infotainment (full power cycle, not just screen sleep).
  6. Remove duplicate paired devices from both sides.

If still failing

  • Test a second phone (different OS/version).
  • Note iOS/Android version and app versions.
  • Check if this started right after a phone OS update or vehicle software update.

High-signal troubleshooting order for projection issues:

  1. Remove old paired profiles from both phone and car.
  2. Reboot phone once (not just toggle Bluetooth).
  3. Re-pair with only one primary phone in the car profile list.
  4. Validate audio output with local media app before map/call usage.
  5. Add second phone only after primary setup is stable.

Many intermittent issues are caused by stale pairings + multiple phones competing for priority.

If your issue started right after a phone OS update, please include this in replies:

  • Phone model and OS version
  • Was working before update?
  • Wireless vs wired behavior
  • Whether calls work but media fails (or vice versa)

This helps us identify version-specific patterns faster and avoids generic advice loops.
